Architects registered in West Virginia are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education in health, safety, and welfare subjects annually. Registered architects should accrue hours during the prior calendar year (January - December) in order to renew their registrations the following June, as they attest to completing the required hours in order to renew their registrations.
Audits
Audits are generally conducted in January or February, and five percent of the registered architects are randomly selected for the audit. Those selected submit documentation of their continuing education hours by providing a log of hours and either an AIA transcript or copies of certificates from classes they completed. The West Virginia Board of Architects only accepts transcript entries and certificates which have the HSW designation.
